David Saab wins the first APT tournament
The Australian David Saab is the first winner of the 'Asian Poker Tour'. In Manila, he prevailed over 315 other participants and won $280,000 in prize money.
Despite the WSOP taking place at the same time, the first tournament of the APT was relatively well filled. Besides David Saab, Brad Daugherty (WSOP Main Event winner in 1992),
Layne Flack, Evelyn Ng, Daniel Schreiber and Huck Seed participated in the tourney, amongst others.
David Saab dominated the Tournament
At the conclusion of the first day, the Korean-born Australian Saab was in sixth place of the chip count. On Day 2 of the event, he secured the position of chip leader and did not relinquish it.
Next stop: Macau
Due to the great amount interest, the Tour organisers decided to increase the guaranteed prize pool of the APT Macau to $1.5 million. From August 27th to 31st, the Tour will then have its second of four stops at the StarWorld Hotel and Casino.
