EPT Copenhagen Main Event: Day 1A
Day 1A of the EPT Copenhagen saw 225 players paying up the DKK 50,000 in order to participate in the Main Event and hopefully win it. Many known players were seen at the tables but as always, some of them fell short early on.
The DKK 50,000
EPT Copenhagen Main Event kicked off yesterday. As expected, Day 1A
of the fifth PokerStars Scandinavian Open revealed many familiar faces embarking on an attempt to claim the
title, including Thor Hansen, Albert Iversen, Rasmus Nielsen, Polish
Open Champion Joao Barbosa, Hungarian Open final tablist Marino
Serenelli, WSOP main event champion Carlos Mortensen and many more.
Early stages of Day 1A saw Gino Alacqua and Christoffer “-NoName-” Hansen leaving the table, followed by Patric Martenssen and Tuomas Karppinen who were knocked out in mid session. Casey Kastle, Marino Serenelli and Joao Barbosa survived through most of the day but eventually got sent to the rail.
Another man who had troubles was Carlos Mortensen. Whether it was a bad day or something else remains a mystery, but in the end the WSOP champ was put out of his misery after limping through most of the day.
Some people were having more fun than others, namely Trond Erik Eidsvig and Albert Iversen. Being good friends, they spent most of the time joking with each other and knocking over each other's stacks. Sitting next to them was Johannes Strassmann who was struggling to improve his short stack.
The former champion Noah Boeken also had an interesting day. Earlier in play he moved all-in preflop and got called by a short-stacked opponent. Boeken revealed and his opponent revealed
. The board came
and Boeken was forced to give around 2,175 to his opponent, being left himself with 7,000.
Despite this loss, Boeken managed to double up to the 26,000 mark later on with an all-in for 12,275. He had pocket kings again, opposed to his opponent's . The board paired the queens, but that was all and Boeken was more than happy to take the pot.
A total of 96 players survived through the day and will be returning to the table on Day 2. Below you can find the top 10 in chips at the end of the Day 1A:
