This year's European Poker Tour annual stop in Copenhagen started off with the Scandinavian Poker Awards.
It was the third annual instalment of the awards, set to honour "the very best poker players from across the Nordic region - Sweden, Norway, Denmark and, for the first time, Finland," according to the EPT website.

Today, on February 17th the DKK 50,000 buy-in EPT Copenhagen Main Event
rolls out under the spotlight. It will end with the Final Table on
Saturday, February 21st. Last year, cap for the tournament was set to
460 people which generated a total prize pool of DKK 21,086,401
($4,111,848), with Timothy Vance finishing first and taking home
$1,095,913. With the increased interest shown for this event, cap for
this year is set to 500.

Many top pros are attending the Main Event, including Team PokerStars Pros Alex Kravchenko, Bertrand "ElkY"
Grospellier, Isabelle Mercier, Dario Minieri and two more notable
names, Noah Boeken who won the first EPT Copenhagen stop and Mads
Andersen who was the Season 2 champion. 2008 WSOP Main Event champion
Peter Eastgate and Main Event runner-up Ivan Demidov will also be
participating in this tournament.

Founded in 2000, the provider PokerStars is counted amongst the
veterans of online poker. Based on the number of members, it is also
the biggest provider to date. PokerStars became known and popular due
to its large offer of tournaments and small limits, which also enables
newbies and amateur players to enjoy the game. Thus, the poker skills of
the average players and opponents at PokerStars are considered rather
limited.
