EPT Monte Carlo stream to feature "Dynamic Delay"

No delays on the European Poker Tour broadcasts as the PokerStars Live streams are now set to feature a new type of delay.

The European Poker Tour is in Monte Carlo, perhaps the most prestigious stop of the year for PokerStars Live, with multiple high roller events, including their biggest buy-in ever, a €250,000 Super High Roller. 

Naturally, this is a spectacle poker fans will want to see, and the live stream team are trying something different to showcase it. 

For the first time ever, the EPT will feature a "Dynamic Delay" on their live streams. This is to ensure that there are no breaks in the coverage.  

Poker live streams tend to operate on a 30-minute delay, which means that, inevitably, when the players go on a dinner break, the stream also breaks and typically will replay old hands. This leads to a lot of drop-off from people watching the stream.

The action won't stop

Speaking to PokerNews, James Hartigan explained that the new delay system will mean that the streams start later than usual, but the action will never stop. The streams could start as late as three hours after the tournament itself starts. 

Coverage of EPT Monte Carlo begins tomorrow with the €100K One Drop High Roller, followed by that €250,000 Super High Roller, and then the main event coverage starts from Thursday. 

As we reported earlier this week, it will also be the last one with Joe Stapleton in the commentary booth, as he has left PokerStars Live after 15 years to pursue a new project.
