Five-Star World Poker Classic Kicks Off

Bellagio will be the host of the Five-Star World Poker Classic, the tournament series which will feature 17 events, with the main event being the $25,000 buy-in WPT Championship. Last year's WPT Championship gathered 545 players, which generated a prize pool of $13,216,250.

bellagioThe Five-Star World Poker Classic returns to Bellagio in Las Vegas with the first event kicking off today. The whole tournament series will have 16 preliminary events and the $25,000 buy-in World Poker Tour Championship.

There will be only No Limit Hold'em tournaments, including a seniors event which will take place on Monday, April 13. The tournament series will end on Saturday, April 25 with the final table of the WPT Championship.

Bellagio will run super-satellites for the WPT Championship with the $2,500 satellites hosted on April 8, 15 and 17, while the $1,500 satellites being hosted on April 15, 17 and 18. Last year's WPT Championship saw 545 entrants with David Chiu finishing in first place and winning $3,389,140. The total prize pool was $13,216,250.
