Jason Koon is Phil Hellmuth's next opponent
The Super High Roller star is set to play the Poker Brat in a $1.6 million heads-up match on PokerGO.
Jason Koon has stepped up to become the official challenger to Phil Hellmuth on High Stakes Duel after Scott Seiver stepped down.
He will play Phil heads-up with a $800,000 buy-in on the 5th round of the third duel of the current series.
The agreed upon date of August 22, however, has been postponed as Phil is now unable to play that date, so a new date has to be decided before the two can do battle.

As per the rules of the challenge, only when one player wins three consecutive matches before Round 4 or two consecutive matches starting with Round 4 can they bank their winnings. Another challenger can step up to the plate if it is within 30 days of the last match. The stakes have to be doubled every time a new match is played.
That means Koon only has one shot to scalp Hellmuth before Phil can walk with the money, a fact that put one candidate out of the running:
This will be the 11th High Stakes Duel in a row for Hellmuth, which started in July 2020 when the stakes were just $50,000 to enter and his opponent was Antonio Esfandiari. In that time Phil has lost just once, to Tom Dwan, whom he beat in the rematch.
