Lex Live attracts 1,064 entries

A massive field turns up for pub quizzes, 'FU Flips' and a chance to meet their streaming hero in Belgium.

Proving we truly live in the age of Twitch in poker, the first live event based around a single streamer was a remarkable success. 

Lex Live was a chance for fans of the prolific PokerStars Twitch streamer Lex Veldhuis to meet up and meet their hero in person at the tables. It was also attended by several of his fellow streamers and included fun side events like a pub quiz and a "FU Flip' tournament.

We’re doing a new tournament format here. At the end of every blind level the whole table has to do a 5 bb flip. Just did the first flip and it’s awesome.

It very much had shades of the Meet Up Games that Brad Owen told us about last month as well as RunItUp Reno. YouTube and Twitch are creating new audiences that are clearly crying out for events this where the emphasis is on fun rather than taking the game too seriously.  

An overwhelmed Veldhuis commented on the event to the PokerStars Blog:

It’s weird because the community has been exactly the way I hoped it would be. Everyone has been so insanely social and open. I thought there would be much more ice-breaking going on, y’know? Everybody settling in, some people skirting on the edges then joining on the second day etc. But everyone showed up for a beer and a chat. I was actually surprised by how comfortable everyone was with each other immediately.

The €225 Main Event attracted 1,064 entries in total with Danny de Vos taking down €29,300 after a five-way deal.
