Phil Galfond wins second WSOP bracelet
'OMGClayAiken' defeats a stacked field to take down the 2-7 Draw Lowball Championship.
It's been a busy couple of months for online legend Phil Galfond - he recently got married and now he is celebrating again with his second WSOP bracelet.
He overcame one of the most stacked final tables you are ever likely to see to take down the $10,000 2-7 Draw Lowball Championship for $224,383.
The final table also featured Dan Smith, Erik Seidel, Eli Elezra, Jon Turner and Bernard Lee.
Most notably, however, he had to defeat Nick Schulman heads-up for the title. Schulman has previously won this event both in 2009 and 2012 and was just one player away from completing a very prestigious treble.
It's been seven years since Galfond won his first bracelet in the $5,000 PLO Rebuy event. With just 77 entries this was one of the smallest bracelet events, but still a huge deal for the winner:
"Compared to some of the other events it’s one of the smaller prize pools. I’ve played for cash game pots the size of first place. This feels a lot bigger and I think it’s because of this stage and the bracelet. It’s more meaningful than cash games.”
