Phisherman wins $1,170!

Our new diamond member won the $4,000 guaranteed tournament on PartyPoker. After his success we asked him some questions.

PokerStrategy: Congratulations Phisherman for winning the $4,000 guaranteed tournament on PartyPoker! Could you please introduce yourself?
Phisherman: My name is Andrei Robert Pescaru, I'm 18 years old and I'm from Romania.

PokerStrategy: What kind of tournament did you play? And on which platform?
Phisherman: The tournament i won was the $4k Gtd on PartyPoker with an 11$ buy-in.

PokerStrategy: When did you start playing poker and what are your goals?
Phisherman: I started playing poker in the middle of April, so that makes it 5 months ago.
My goals are to build up a solid bankroll and of course, the ultimate goal which probably most ambitious players aspire at to even make a living out of it.

PokerStrategy: How did you do throughout the tournament. Can you describe some decisive hands, the final hand and your thoughts?
Phisherman: Hmm... some decisive hands... well... up to the first break (first hour of play) I had a lot of cold hands and was steadily bleeding my stack out until the last quarter of the first hour... the blinds were 100/200, my stack was about 1.6k or so and I moved in with AQo. I had the bad luck to run into aces, but the dude who had aces was really short also, and it took me down to 370 in chips after I doubled him up. Of course at that point I had no clue I was going to even have a chance to win the tournament. Then I moved in the next hand with some hand like A8o (I don't remember exactly) and I tripled up... Since then I played very tight and played very shortstack for the whole tourney. Even when we started the final table I was the shortest stack there. Then I had some good hands and eventually I got heads-up having a stack 3 times bigger than my oponnent's stack. Our heads-up play was a very short one, first hand I was BB having the button, he just completed the SB, I raised and he folded, and the next hand was going to be the last one also. I was in the SB and picked up QTo. I raised to 2.5x BB and he just called, flop came 6TT with 2 diamonds, I just checked it and he checked it as well. Turn was a Q giving me a fullhouse, I check it again and he checks as well, turn was a K , still no flushes possible... I bet about half of the pot and he raised all-in. It was the easiest call of my life, he had T9 and it gave me first place in the tournament. It was quite amazing to see that such comebacks are possible in a tournament.

PokerStrategy: Which role did undercover82 play during the tournament?
Phisherman: undercover82 is a good friend of mine and we talk on msn a lot and he only watched the last 3 tables or something. I was telling him my holecards every hand I played and he kept my morale up and shared his ideeas on some hands though it was quite similar to mine, but I believe that he also helped me a bit keeping my calm and not making some crazy moves at the final table.

PokerStrategy: How does it feel to win such a big prize?
Phisherman: How does it feel ? What a question :)) Great of course !! It was actually really welcome at that time for my bankroll because I had lost a lot at cash games that day and the day before (some weird tilt was going one :P)
