News: PokerStars' $40 million WCOOP schedule released

In today's Daily Rewind we look forward to WCOOP 2014 and climb aboard the November Nine hype-train.

PokerStars may have only just packed away its micro-sized MTT guns, but with September on the horizon the online poker site has already moved to bring out its heavy artillery in the form of a new WCOOP schedule.

Set to get underway on September 7th and run through until September 28th, the latest WCOOP incarnation will not only feature 66 events, but a prizepool worth at least $40 million.

Not only that, but for the first time in the event's 13-year history, the finale of the $10 million Main Event will be streamed live to those not fortunate enough to make it there.

Accompanied by commentary and analysis from Joe Stapleton, James Hartigan and various Team PokerStars pros, players will be able to watch the race for the title as it happens.

As ever, the next WCOOP will feature a variety of formats and buy-ins, including 4-max, 6-Max and heads-up events, but for most the $5,200 Main Event will be the star of the show.

In a bid to ensure as many people as possible get a chance to take part in a WCOOP event, PokerStars is hosting a string of satellites alongside the Protégé promotion which will see four players given professional coaching before and entry to the $5,200 Main Event.

WSOP preview

Ahead of this year's WSOP Main Event final table, the organisers have put together a short video featuring Scooby Doo and the November Nine.

Designed to create some hype ahead of the big money showdown, the advert features the vocal talents of American Authors and a mixture of behind-the-scenes footage from Main Event.

Whether or not the promo piece will generate any additional interest in the finale remains to be seen.

However, with additional TV coverage and further content in the pipeline, we could see more November Nine buzz than this time around than in previous years.

Duke's advice on parenting

Parenting is like bluffing according to Annie Duke. In what's becoming somewhat of a running joke in the community, another video of Duke offering a blend of poker and real world advice has surfaced on the internet.

This time the [former] poker pro links the concept of betting and controlling children through ultimatums.

If you can manage to make it through the video you'll see that Duke appears to be quite the master at using deception to manipulate people and get her own way.

High Stakes Corner

The only thing standing in the way of Gus Hansen's profitable run on Wednesday was 'Sanlker'. After banking $117,894 over the course of 400 hands, Hansen was able to climb to second place on the daily leaderboard, just behind 'Sanlker' who raked in $321,901.

Falling to the largest loss of the day was Asian amateur, Chun Lei Zhou. After losing more than $1.2 million earlier in the week, Zhou dropped a further $236,096 last night to finish ahead of 'thecortster' and 'punting-peddler' on the daily loss leaderboard.
