PokerStars to trial anonymous tables
Bucking their own 18 year trend, PokerStars may soon be bringing in the option to go anonymous on certain cash game tables.
In another exclusive from pokerfuse it has been revealed that PokerStars will soon be testing out 'Stealth Mode' anonymous cash game tables.
Severin Rasset confirmed to them the trial will begin in a few months in an attempt to improve the health of the PokerStars ecosystem.
They speculate that it will be available at certain cash game tables and players who choose it as an option will have a 'Stealth Mode' signifier showing on their avatar.
Hand histories will still be available with original player screen names, but they will only be made available 24 hours after the session. This means players can study their play in tracking software but renders the HUD less valuable. This goes against the controversial decision earlier this year by partypoker to force a screen name change and make hand histories no longer downloadable.
It is not unusual to see anonymous tables or screen name changes in poker, in fact as Nick Jones of pokerfuse points out they have no essentially become the norm:

However, this is quite the change for PokerStars who have always had a very strict no name change rule for the last 18 years. As they are the market leader this could have a profound effect on the way online cash games are played.
