Scotty Nguyen Wins the $10,000 H.O.R.S.E. Event

The $10,000 H.O.R.S.E. championship returned to the Commerce Casino today with its final 16 players out of a total of 96. The buble did not burst until the 9th place, as only top 8 could get a piece of the prize.

Many pros entered the event, but most of them them did not manage to make the final table. Nick Schulman, Howard Ledered, Gavin Griffin, Ralph Perry, Kenny Tran, Steve Billirakis, Chris Amaral and Randall Skaggs were all sent to the rail and left empty-handed.

Once the final table had been set, it did not take long for us to see the first elimination - John Monnette ($29,491). After that, it took two whole levels until the next elimination came and the victim was Amon Filipi ($40,550). Bob Golick ($52,531) quickly shared the same fate, ending the tournament in 6th place.

Scotty Nguyen managed to significantly build his chip stack when he sent Matt Graham ($66,355) to the rail in 5th place. The soon-to-be runner-up, David "Chino" Rheem would then eliminate Chris Tsiprailidis ($86,630) and Jeff Madsen ($122,573) and then reach the heads-up phase against Nguyen.

Soon after the third place elimination, Nguyen and Rheem reached an agreement to split the prize money but the condition was that Nguyen was crowned champion.
