'Tankanza' wins back-to-back SCOOP High Main Events

It could be one of the greatest COOP doubles ever as the Italian books two seven-figure online wins in as many years.

Last year Gianluca “Tankanza” Speranza of Italy defeated a field of 654 in the $10,300 SCOOP High Main Event for $1,133,160 - an experience he enjoyed so much he decided to do it again.

This year 662 entries were counted in this event and once again it was Tankanza who topped the rankings, this time taking it down for $1,028,203 after a heads-up deal with 'OMGitshunt'

It surely must go down as one of the greatest feats in COOP history. While there are many multiple title winners and back-to-back winners, this has to be one of the toughest events in the online MTT circuit and seven-figure prizes are so rare online that to win two in a row is unprecedented.

He also won the SCOOP Mini Super Tuesday for $80,589 this year, so he also has won two SCOOP titles in a single series.

Remarkably it was a reunion at the final table, as 'nailuj90' of Austria made this finale for the second year in a row too. He came 2nd last year for $837,473.81 and 5th this year for $324,119.

The $1,050 SCOOP Medium Main Event attracted 5,475 players and was won by 'jakobgold' for $688,588. The $109 SCOOP Low Main Event boasted 33,987 players and 'Jack Wastes' took it down for $315,955.

Now as is usual, all eyes are on the World Series of Poker which starts today and for which SCOOP is often considered the unofficial warm up for that series.

How big is that back-to-back result? Let us know in the comments:
