With the 47th World Series of Poker over a week old, we take a look at some the biggest talking points from the Rio Casino so far.
Robert Mizrachi wins 4th bracelet
For the third straight year, Robert Mizrachi claimed a World Series of Poker gold bracelet bringing his tally to four in total, surpassing his younger brother Michael.
The 37 year old's latest bracelet was won in Saturday's $10,000 Seven Card Stud Championship where, after seeing off the likes of Ted Forrest and George Danzer, he won a three hours plus heads-up battle with Matt Grapenthien. Mizrachi's previous three bracelets were taken at last year's $1,500 Omaha eight-or-better event, 2014's $1,500 dealer’s choice event and the $10,000 World Championship Pot-Limit Omaha back in 2007.
PokerStrategist comes second in Colossus...
PokerStrategy.com member,desmoplakin won $618,000 at this year's Colossus event after coming runner up to the now newly minted US poker millionaire Ben Keeline. The pair entered heads-up play almost even in chips which concluded when Keeline went all-in with pocket jacks, which Horak, holding A9, called immediately. With both players walking away from the table they missed the ace land on the final card, giving Keeline a winning spade flush.
... But still needs to explain it to his fans!
Believing their guy had won, Horak's fans went delirious in celebration following the final hand, before their hero had to explain to his buddies that, in fact, he hadn't.
