News: WSOP Event #7: No Break In Sight For Team PokerStrategy.com

Jonathan Little was sitting comfortably in this $1,500 NLHE event as he was amongst the top five most of the day. Things still look grim for Nazgul, as both him and Pokernoob were among the casualties of the first day.

With 2791 entries, Event #7 is yet another big No Limit Hold'em tournament being played at the WSOP, and with a mere 338 players left, the way into the money will be a short one tomorrow: 297 of them will be paid.

Both Tim 'nazgul' Kahlmeyer (pictured right) and Tobias 'pokernoob' Reinkemeier haven't managed to live past the first day of an event yet. So today, they decided to try their luck again. As it seems, the poker gods still aren't on their side, though, as both of them had to take an early leave. Keep an eye on the Team PokerStrategy.com blog for updates on the exact progress as soon as they have recovered and found their way from the rail to the next internet terminal.

Things started out more smoothly for Nazgul today, as he was able to double up early on twice. The second time he had his opponent crushed with AQ vs Q9 on a KJT board - his opponent understandably shoved all-in after Nazgul's continuation bet, only to see himself basically drawing dead, with a mere three outs to a split pot.

The good run however didn't last long, as Nazgul had to bleed a big chunk of his chips when his 75s with flush draw and gutshot ran into QQ on a 842 board and he couldn't improve. Still, being left with a good 11k chips, things were all set for a comeback to the top in the 4th blind level, when he flopped his set of sixes on a 864 board. The KQs flush draw was enough for the small blind to 3-bet all-in, though, and Nazgul was sent to the rails by the fifth club that came up - in a pot which should have brought him an early chip lead.

JONATHAN LITTLE WAS HEATING THINGS UP

Things were looking much better for jonathanlittle, who was cruising through most of the day in the top five. It seemed like he could also use a little break after his recent experiences according to his latest blog entry, but unfortunately, he was abruptly eliminated during the last two hours of play.

As usual, poker didn't make the difference between pro or amateur, between good player or bad player, between known and unknowns, and even the best of the best can become victim of a bad beat or setup early on. It thus comes as no surprise that, next to our players, a lot of the big names have to take their leave early on, with the likes of Chris Ferguson, John Juanda, Justin Bonomo, Freddy Deeb, Vanessa Rousso, and David Singer all going to the rails in the first day.

A lot of the usual suspects are still returning for day two tomorrow, though, including Brandon Cantu, Shaun Deeb, Alex Jacob, Lee Childs, Jim Meehan, and Grant Hinkle. The big stacks built up quite a lead already, with the first one having almost double the amount of chips of the fifth, so it will be interesting to see whether they can carry it all the way to the final table or whether - as is often the case - some of them will even bust before the bubble bursts.
