debelinko wins $1,000!

Our platinum member finished second in the PokerStrategy country Top 10 freeroll which took place last Sunday. After his success we asked him some questions.

PokerStrategy: Congratulations debelinko for finishing the second in the
PokerStrategy country Top10 freeroll! You won $1,000! Could you please
introduce yourself?

debelinko: Thank you. My name is Vasilij and I'm a 22 year old student from Slovenia. I started playing poker a couple of years ago, but started to play online in December 2006 when I deposited 50$. It went well and I had no need to redeposit since.

PokerStrategy: How long have you been a member of PokerStrategy?
debelinko: I found out about PokerStrategy in April this year 'accidently' browsing the net and I registered on the 11th of April 2007.

PokerStrategy: How does it feel to finish second in this tournament?
debelinko: It's a great feeling. It really feels like you accomplished something. It also gave me back some self-confidence after I had a streak of bad luck at the cash game tables within the last few weeks.

PokerStrategy: How did you do throughout the tournament. Can you
describe some decisive hands?
debelinko: Actually the whole tournament went smooth. I had been in the top 5 chipleaders most of the time with lady luck on my side on some occasions including coinflips. I won some big pots and that was it. Just regular poker.

PokerStrategy: Which tactic did you have when you reached the final table?
debelinko: I was a big chipleader by then (which I remained until heads-up), so I decided to slow down and wait for other players to get knocked out without me risking too much. However I won an occasional pot with a steal or best hand, so my stack kept growing.

PokerStrategy: Could you please describe the final hand?
debelinko: The final hand didn't matter 🙂 It was a hand before that decided the winner. I was dealt J9s on the button and made a raise of 3.5BB. Opponent reraised all-in and I called, because he's been playing very aggressively heads-up, and I thought he wants to 'get it over' as soon as possible. He showed A-5, I was about 46-54 dog, and his hand won the tournament.
