UIGEA - Antigua and Barbuda yearly recieve 21 million USD

Antigua and Barbuda are granted 21 million USD by the WTO. The two ministates asked for 3.4 billion USD. The WTO did not meet the high claim however.

Just like
the EU, Japan, Australia, Canada,
India and China, Antigua and Barbuda also demanded a
compensation payment. The reason behind it is the UIGEA, which discloses
foreign companies from the online gambling market in the US. The WTO
reduced the claim of 3.4 billion USD drastically, however, and only grants a yearly deposit of 21 million USD to the two countries. Even though the payment is a
victory over the largest WTO member, the US, it is still far beneath the
initially requested amount.

At the same time rumour has it that the solution between the US and the EU
is failing. As we have reported, the US agreed to open the American
market to the EU in other areas instead of paying a compensation payment. It is now
speculated that this deal might break, since the senate did not give its
approval for the deal. But those are just rumours so far. We will of course
keep you updated on all the news.

16 Members of Congress wrote to the minister of finance Henry Paulson last
week, expressing their concerns about the UIGEA. The main issue was not the
UIGEA in itself, however, but the very vague definition of online gambling.
