APT Macau Festival Starts Next Week
The second leg of the Asian Poker Tour will be held from 12-23 August 2009 in Starworld Casino, Macau. This twelve day poker festival will culminate in the $34,400 HKD Main Event.
The Asian Poker Tour Macau Festival is schedule to run from 12-23 August 2009. This second leg of the APT will be held in Galaxy Starworld Casino, Macau. A large number of events are schedule for the 12 days, and will culminate in the $34,400 HKD Main Event.
Last year, young Russian pro Yevgeniy Timoshenko took down the $500,000 first place prize. PokerStrategist Moritz trader Schmejkal finished 13th. The top pros who participated in the 2008 Main Event included the likes of Jonny Chan, Doyle Brunson, Todd Brunson and Huck Seed.
Two time WSOP Main Event Champion Johnny Chan will be returning to Macau this year to once again take part in the APT Macau Main Event. Besides hitting the felt, he will also take part in the filming of "Poker King", an Chinese language poker film that has been dubbed as the Chinese version of "Rounders".
"Poker Pack" To Host Two Events
Headlining the event this year will be the APT Sponsored "Poker Pack" which consists of J.C. Tran, Nam Le, Quinn Do, Steve "MuGGyLiCiOus"Sung, David "Chino" Rheem (pictured right) and Kwang Soo Lee. These 6 Asian poker pros have been chosen as the face of the APT and will host two events during the 12 days.
In the "Head-Hunter" event scheduled on 20 August, players who knock-out any one of the "Poker Pack" will be entitled to receive a $2,500 HKD bounty. $500 is given when any other player is knocked out. Besides this event, they will also play hosts to the two day $164,000 HKD "High Rollers" event.
Besides the feature events that will be held every day, round the clock Sit-N-Go's will be held upon request. At 2:00PM. everyday, a $1,150 HKD ($1,000 HKD) Main Event Super Satellite with Rebuys and Add-ons will be held. On top of that, a $3,500 HKD Mega Satellite with Re-Entries will also be held daily at 8:00PM.
