EPT Warsaw: 55 players left

55 players survived the second day of the PokerStars.com European Poker Tour in Warsaw. Clayton Mozdzen is the chip leader, with Carter Phillips in second. The PokerStrategists br0nx and belinho are out.

148 players started the second day of the tournament in Warsaw. The aim was to get down to 56 players. Just five levels later players could bag their chips and leave because there were only 55 of them left.

At this point, PokerStrategists
br0nx and belinho were already out of the competition. Having started the day with 15,000 and 13,000 chips respectively, they had to play short stacked.
Belinho, last year's runner up in Warsaw, went out in the first level of the day. br0nx was also unable to make it through.

Clayton Mozdzen in front of Carter Phillips

The new chipleader is Clayton Mozdzen from Canada (pictured right) with 332,300
chips. The 20 year old Carter
Phillips (USA) is now in second after being chip leader on Day 1.

Mozdzen almost extended his chip lead when he called Matthias Kurtz's
and Cedric Lebrette's preflop all-in late in the day.

Kurtz held K-K, Lebrette A-A and Mozdzen J-T. The board came 9-3-K-Q and gave Mozdzen the straight. However, the river brought another Q, giving Kurtz the full house. The German collected his 138,000 chips and finished the day with a healthy chip stack.

Pagano and Eastgate through, Ruthenberg out

Pros, the Italian Luca Pagano, current
WSOP Main Event champ Peter Eastgate and Thierry Van Den Berg from Holland are still in the competition.
However, Bertrand Grospellier, Alex Kravchenko and
Sebastian Ruthenberg are out.

Ruthenberg shipped his chips in the last level after a raise and re-raise holding A-K. Jari Mähönen called with aces. The board changed nothing sending the EPT and WSOP champion on his way home.

Today is Day 3

Day 3 of the EPT Warsaw will start at noon. The blinds are 1,000/2,000 with 200 ante. Playing is supposed to continue until 24 players are left, which coincides with the number of paid ranks.
