APPT Cebu attracts record breaking field

With 316 entries at the close of registration, the inaugural APPT Cebu Main Event has broken the record for the biggest poker tournament to be held in the Philippines.

With the tournament cap initially set at 300, this PokerStars Asia Pacific Poker Tour event has exceeded even the most optimistic predictions of the organizers. The record setting field has generated a prize pool of more than $600,000 and will award just over $158,000 to its champion.

Many of the regions' top poker players were in attendance with WPT champ Nam Le by far the biggest name around. Team PokerStars pros Tony Hachem, Eric Assadourian, Daniel Schreiber, Jonathan Lin, Tae Jun Noh and Celina Lin all made the trip down to Cebu for the event.

PokerStrategists Justin "yoghi" Tazelaar along with Vladimir "beyne" Geshkenbeim who took out Johnny Chan heads-up to win the APPT Macau High Roller title were also in attendance. Beyne was eliminated in Day 1B but Yoghi is still in the hunt.

Of the 153 remaining players, Terry Fan from Taipei blew away the competition at the Shangri-La Mactan Resort to grab the chip lead. Here are the top 10 players going into Day 2:
