APPT Macau: PokerStrategist Beyne Wins the High Roller Event
Johnny Chan completes his stay in Macau on a high note after finishing second in the High Rollers event, but in the end he was defeated by PokerStrategist Vladimir 'Beyne' Geshkenbeim in heads-up play.
While the PokerStars APPT Macau Main Event was being played out to its conclusion, the High Rollers event was also running. Two time WSOP Main Event champ Johnny Chan was the biggest name in the field of 64 that bought into the $11,000 event.
Chan went all the way to the end but was finally eliminated in heads-up play by hyper aggressive Russian player Vladimir 'beyne' Geshkenbeim. Geshkenbeim took home the $266,690, while Chan had to settle for a $154,400 second place prize.
In the final hand of the tournament, Chan was all-in after calling a check-raise by Geshkenbeim on a rainbow flop of 
. Chan then turned over 
for top pair, but he was bested by Geshkenbeim who had 
. The 
on the turn gave Chan a few extra outs for the chop, but a 
on the river meant "The Orient Express" was eliminated.
This elimination ends Chan's stay in Macau on a high note after being there to participate in the Asian Poker Tour, the PokerStars Asia Pacific Poker Tour and also to do some filming on the upcoming Asian poker movie "The Poker King".
