PokerStars Hosts Biggest Sunday Million Ever

PokerStars hosted a special Sunday Million tournament in celebration of dealing its 40 billionth hand. The tournament attracted 36,169 entries, generating a massive $7.2 million prize pool.

Just recently, PokerStars celebrated dealing its 40 billionth hand by hosting the largest ever Sunday Million tournament.

The special $4 million guarantee F40 Sunday Million attracted a total of 36,169 entries and generated a massive $7,233,800 prize pool. It is the fourth biggest online tournament ever, behind the WCOOP main events of 2007, 2008 and 2009.

Biggest online prize outside WCOOP

RichieRichZH from Zurich took down the title after 13 hours of play. His $1,141,510 first prize was the biggest ever won by a Swiss national and the biggest ever awarded online, outside of the WCOOP. This win alone places him third in the all-time standings of Swiss tournament money winners.

Other players who made astounding gains from their original buy-ins included fourth placed liraerik ($282,118) who qualified via a 5,400 FPP satellite. Sixth placed DerHenker666 ($86,805) and seventh placed Jaggy42 ($57,870) bought in via $16 and $11.70 satellites respectively.

On top of the special Sunday Million event, the F40 celebration on PokerStars also saw $779,000 being awarded for a total of 400 milestone hands. Swedish player Senecady who was the winner of the 40 billionth hand dealt, walked away with $24,000. Three others in the hand also won more than $12,000 each.
