WCOOP 2012 is Coming

With tournament players across the world on a comedown after the WSOP, PokerStars has decided to lift their spirits by announcing its WCOOP schedule.

This year things kick off with a $215 No Limit 6-max event on September 2 at 11:00 ET. That’s quickly followed at 12:30 ET on the same day by the first of four $10,000 events.

Looking through the list of events there’s something for everyone with a solid mix of Hold’em, Omaha and Mixed Games, before the $5,200 Main Event takes place on September 23rd where the winner will get at least $1 million.

Doyle Wins Cash But Loses Scooter

He may be pushing 79 years old but that hasn’t stopped Doyle Brunson grinding the high stakes cash games throughout the summer at the WSOP.

In his latest blog Doyle explains how he’s currently on one of his biggest heaters in recent memory and explains why he only played four WSOP events this year.

According to Doyle, it used to be “the most exciting poker of the year when the WSOP came around but now it’s too much to play the long hours day after day with no immediate results. I’ve never really gotten into the ‘bracelet race’ and the tournaments are for younger players.”

In amongst his personal experiences during the summer he acknowledges Phil Hellmuth’s twelfth bracelet and Vanessa Selbst recent results, calling her: “not only the best female player in the world" but "one of the top poker players, male or female.”

PKR Gets a Facelift

PKR has the monopoly on fancy graphics in the online poker world and thanks to some reengineering the 3D site is now packed with even more features.

PKR's grinders will be happy as the site’s software now allows you to multi-table up to nine games at once by either tiling or cascading.

For those who like to enjoy themselves at the table, you can now sip on a virtual cocktail whilst stacking your friends. The site's new "table service" allows you to choose from a huge selection of drinks such as coffee, lager and tequila shots.

Other areas of improvement include the addition of new table environments, a “my seat” camera angle and forthcoming feature that allows you to upload your hand history to YouTube.

Brian’s Blog

After reading Phil Galfond’s recent blog and relating to some of its salient points, Brian “Stinger” Hastings has decided to offer the community his “two cents” on happiness, life and poker.

Brian’s honest entry details his battle with depression, his financial worries and what he plans to do in the future.

For almost every poker player in the world the dream is to move up to the high stakes games, win millions of dollars and live happily ever after.

However, as Brian describes, the reality isn’t always like that and at times it’s a tough life.
