Magic the Gathering expert, Main Event runner-up and World Poker Tour champion David Williams proved, once again, that poker players can put their mind to anything.

The professional poker player has entertained foodies in the US for weeks now in the hit show MasterChef, where celebrity chef Gordon Ramsey turns amateurs into world class cooks.

Last night was the finale and Williams narrowly missed out on the title and $250,000 first prize, coming 2nd to fellow Las Vegas resident Shaun O'Neale.

This is not the first time professional poker players have turned their hand to reality TV and game shows

Annie Duke famously was on The Apprentice and John Robert Bellande made his name on Survivor.

Vicky Coren is a regular on UK panel shows like Have I Got News For You and even the Devilfish was on Celebrity Darts.

Liv Boeree did really well on a UK show called Golden Balls and perhaps most impressive of all Alex Jacobs crushed the iconic quiz show Jeopardy
