The GGPoker WSOP Main Event rescheduled after technical issues

There were shades of last year's WCOOP Main Event cancellation, as the WSOP Online Main Event has been put back a week after technical problems.

The GGPoker World Series of Poker Online Main Event Day 2 has been rescheduled from September 25 to October 2. This is due to a technical issue that caused players to be unable to play MTTs on Sunday night on the site, including Day 1 flights of the $5,000 Main Event. 

GGPoker confirmed the decision on Twitter:

At the time of writing 2,439 players have entered Day 1 flights of the Main Event, with 287 making it to Day 2. $13,414,750 of the $25 million guarantee has been collected. Five starting flights remain, with the last one being on September 24. It seems likely additional starting flights will be added between September 24 and October 2. 

It is a common issue in poker for multi-day events with large guarantees and fields to run into issues like this. This time last year, this exact same thing happened in the WCOOP Main Event. It is unusual, however, to see a World Series of Poker event rescheduled in this way because we are so used to seeing them run like clockwork in Las Vegas. 

Affected qualifiers for Sunday's Main Event flights have had the $250 buy-in returned to them.
