You want to spend all day watching Starcraft. You also want to make even a small contribution to society. This weekend, the two don't have to be mutually exclusive. On Sunday the 22nd of May 2011, starting from 10am, our very own Dario "TLO" Wünsch will stream his play for as long as possible with the goal of streaming a minimum of 24 hours. What's more, this marathon Starcraft 2 run will be in benefit of Doctors Without Borders, an awesome charity that provides independent, impartial assistance in many of the world's worst affected areas.
On a daily basis, they help people who are affected by armed conflict, epidemics, malnutrition, exclusion from health care, or natural disasters and this weekend, you'll be able to contribute in a little way towards their efforts. "Helping an organisation like doctors without borders seemed fitting to me," says Dario. "They do incredible work and I want to see if we can have gaming benefit them in some way."
Starting on Sunday morning, Dario will stream throughout the day and aim to go on until 10am on Monday. During this time, he will ladder, play custom games and you'll have a chance to follow him on stream and maybe even join him in game. "My goal is to reach 24 hours as that will be a personal milestone for me as well," says TLO. "I'll keep going for as long as I can though, and I'd really value your support along the way."
So how is this going to work? TLO will have ads running on his stream, and all revenue made during this period will be donated directly to Doctors Without Borders. All you have to do is spread the word.
Tell your parents, friends and significant other. Tell the mailman. Canvas your dorms. IM everyone. Facebook and tweet away. Ask that girl/boy you've had your eye on for ages to come join you on Sunday to watch Starcraft and support Doctors Without Borders while you're at it.
Finally, stock up and food on drink and be here on Sunday as Dario downs energy bars and gets ready to dish out pwnage for a cause. No matter where you are in the world, this event will be live this weekend at a time that's good for you. Be sure you tune in!
