Most important piece of paper is the "Meldezettel" which is a form in which whoever hosts you signs that you live there. Thats the paper in combination with your passport with which you can open up a bankaccount.

Make an appointment at the "Magistrat" in your district and hand in the Meldezettel.

Danke! I guess my introduction was a bit weak. I am 25 years old and I started playing poker in 2016. I was playing football semi-professionally but the salary wasnt enough, I wanted income that didnt require working too much with my body since I was training pretty hard at the time. I tried out poker and at the end of the year I was playing stakes equivalent to NL200. I remember the last two months of the year I won like 8k and was completely mindblown.

It was at this point I signed up for a coaching deal and was introduced to piosolver. from there it just took off, I am pretty sure I played some NL2k (staked and selling action) at the end of year 2. Year three was when I decided to quit football, the past two years was filled with injuries and I hated my new new coach, I just didnt have the motivation to fight for that dream anymore, still miss football a lot.

After that I tried to establish myself at NL2k but got destroyed time after time and it was probably the toughest point of my carreer so far. Still dont know if I just sucked or if I played worse at higher stakes or if I was just unlucky. I also started to consider PLO at this point, tried it out and slowly transitioned. In 2020 my volume was probably 90%+ PLO and I dont think I ever played higher than PLO1k but it also was my most winning year.

4 days of grinding, here are the results:

Hopefully that decent looking redline is a sign of me improving, I have added some layers to my game recently that should help the redline but too early tell.

I am glad to see the lockdown is somewhat relaxed here in Vienna, I see people outside all the time taking a jog or whatever. I will be a good boy and stay inside for the mandatory 10 days, but can't wait to go out for a walk. I also saw the lockdown was extended to the 25th. Is this unexpected or have they done the same thing before? Do you expect the 25th to be the end of the lockdown or do you think they will extend it even further?

Most language schools seem to be closed atm so I am grinding on YouTube for now. Surprised over how much of the things I learnt in school 7 years ago are coming back.

Also been considering making a comeback in football. Would have to be at a hobby level obviously, but seems like a good way to get to know some people. I find the Austrian league system very confusing so will have to do some more research on that.

Day 5 of the lockdown grinding mission starts now!

A few years ago I wanted to learn spanish since me and some pokerfriends were travelling to Colombia. A few months before we left I tried out the app Babbel. I remember I dint really like it and still felt like I was starting from 0 when we arrived. But it is possible that I didnt use it very well, and now that I have learnt spanish it is very possible I will have an easier time learning german through an app.

Do you have any experience with apps like that?

I think Austrian football seems pretty good? ♦ At least the national team is allright!

Austrian Football obviously doesn't stand the comparison with the big European leagues in Germany, England or Spain. But as much as we like to mock the football in our country it is pretty much improving over past view years. Many millions moving into RedBull Salzburg who made the CL the past two Years. And with 3 Teams in the EL this year.

The end of (currently our "3rd") lockdown has always been 25th, but our government wanted to do a(nother) mass-test. So they promised to open stores etc on 18th for all people who get tested during that week (= having the chance to "get out" a week earlier). But then again, this is understood to be a discrimination (or at least all other parties voted against that), so lockdown ends on 25th for everyone of us. Allegedly.

That being said, it does not look like the numbers are going down fast enough - so there's a chance that lockdown is going to be extended (or they frame it differently, eg by saying "we are opening again, but with x/y/z new restrictions..."). However, in Austria you'll be allowed to take a walk at anytime, even during lockdown.

It's a typical austrian way of deciding things - at first not deciding anything at all, then everything at the very same time, having multiple versions of concurrent realities. It's a great way to be able to suffer and rant all the time, you'll love it!

Secret but my stats look a lot better now in those areas. I am pretty happy with how things are going, results are pretty bad but feel like I am making some improvements. Redline still ass unfortunately. Have played a few hundred hands above 5/10 with breakeven results. It is pretty hard to get a seat when I am playing 6 tables on my laptop, yesterday I invested in a monitor which hopefully will help with that.

Still some administrative things I have to to do, have not been able to study as much as I would have liked but in a few days I will likely be able to focus only on poker for quite a while.

Havent done too many irl things, but at least I have walked around in the 1st district, also went for a walk in Schönbrunn. Vienna is so beautiful, praying for less restrictions soon.

Hmm, I dont really have much to write about. Obviously happy to start off the year pretty strong. The days consists of studying, playing and some working out. I am pretty happy with the volume but this last week I have felt very tired, probably has to do with my poor sleep pattern. Some days I wake up very late and some days I have something important to do early, I could use some better rythm. I also find it hard to go to sleep when there still are good games running. Today I woke up at 13.00 and tomorrow I will wake up at 08.00 and hopefully open a bank account. I went to the bank on Friday as well but they were sceptical if it was ok to open an account as a pokerplayer, but since they contacted me to come back I guess it will work.

In a week I am starting my online german classes and I am afraid that I picked a level way too difficult for me. Time will tell.

hey i also moved to Vienna recently ,play football(not on that level though)and i play the same stakes .It always nice to meet 'colleagues' just send me a msg in the comtool if you wanna get to know each other.Im in the process of learning spanish btw and i love the app Duolingo so far and if you have any problems opening up a bank account it was super easy for me to get an online bank account at Erste Bank took me 30min and i they did the verification process via an online video chat.

So today was my first day of the German classes, and I already regret signing up. The teacher looks like he has already been dead for 3 years and I could tell this was his first time teaching online. We spent 40 minutes trying to arrange the group call on skype. And something happened that I have to ask you guys about. I might be crazy , you tell me. We were talking about what sports we like to do, so every student gets to say something and then the techer corrects the sentence or maybe asks a question about it. Finally there is a girl who says she likes to do yoga. And all of the sudden the teacher lights up, you can see the fire in his eyes. Until now he has been extremely monotone and boring. So he asks the girl something like, -Aaahh so you are very flexible? She responds, -eeeehhh.. yes. Teacher starts chuckling in a weird way, makes a pause, puts on a creepy face and says, -Ich bin steif wie ein Baum.
Am I out of my mind? Is that something you can say in this context just refering to him not being flexible? Maybe it was just the way he acted when he said it that made me uncomfortable, please let me know.

I have never heard "Steif wie ein Baum" before. But "Steif wie ein Brett" is indeed a proverb that is used to express that someone is not flexible. If he acted weird when he said this, it might have been some kind of an inapproriate comment though. I unserstand if it makes people feel uncomfortable in this context.
