MP is unknown, 100bb effective stack.

Pre Flop: (1.5bb) Hero is BTN with his entire cold calling range in BT vs MP.
1 fold, MP raises to 3bb, 1 fold, Hero calls 3bb, 2 folds

Flop: (7.5bb) K :spade: J :spade: T :club: (2 players)
MP bets 5.5bb, Hero raises to ?

What is your raising size here?

- One could be a small raise size. If villain calls, we can 3barrel successfully. This would mean we can raise 100% of the range we don't fold which should be at least 57,7%.
* The problem with this is that if villain 3bets (which is the most probable to see) and we made our strategy for a 3barrel then we are bluff raising to often. So then we have to raise fewer combinations and add a calling range.
* If villain calls vs our new improved strategy of raising and calling we will have an almost 100% turn barrel (which would be unexploitable because we are perfectly balanced). The problem here is that on the flop we give him kind of ok odds to call with a flushdraw, so we would have to rethink our value hands on a A/9/spade turn, so our frequencies will change.

- Another one could be a bigger raising size. If villain calls, we go all in on the turn. Now if villain 3bets, or calls, we can have a somehow similar strategy for both responses. And we don't give that good of odds to a flushdraw on the flop.

Hi.

I'll probably just raise it up to 15bb here.

Turn: 37.5bb, You bet 20bb here
River: 77.5bb, You shove for 62bb

I think you are reading too much into this simple spot. I think a normal 3X raise size is good for building up the pot for value, and also gives you decent odds on your bluffs/semi-bluffs.

Are you suggesting min-raising here? I don't think that's a good idea on this Flop texture which is extremely draw heavy. Raising larger also doesn't seem to be great.

Raise to 30bb
Turn: 67.5bb, You shove for 67bb

I'm not too sure why you are so concerned with the possibility of facing a 3bet. When it comes, then you deal with it. Either you min4bet him on the Flop, or you just jam your value hands and fold your air and weak semi-bluffs with stuff like your gutshots.

This is very similar to what I thought:

Flop 7,5bb. [stacks 97bb]
MP bets 5,5bb. BT Raises 13bb (MP has to defend 50%). MP calls 7,5.

Turn 33,5bb [stacks 84bb]
MP checks. BT bets 25bb (MP has to defend 57%). MP calls 25bb.

River 83,5,5bb [stacks 59bb]
MP checks. BT bets 59bb (MP has to call 59%)

This would be first scenario where MP just calls the raise and then plays x/c turn and river.

(Didn't take rake into consideration in this examples.)

If he 3bets:

Flop 7,5bb. [stacks 97bb]
MP bets 5,5bb. BT Raises 13bb (MP has to defend 50%). MP 3bets 26bb to 31,5bb. BT raises 84bb to 97bb [and is all]. MP calls 65,5bb.

I'm not too sure why you are so concerned with the possibility of facing a 3bet. When it comes, then you deal with it. Either you min4bet him on the Flop, or you just jam your value hands and fold your air and weak semi-bluffs with stuff like your gutshots.

If we raise and 4bet shove / Or raise, min4bet and then call or fold... we are playing only two streets (the raise and the reraise). If villain just calls then we play 3 streets, the raise, the turn and the river. If we play 3streets we can have more bluffs in our range starting off and if MP 3bets then those extra combos are losing us money.

Thanks for the response. Mainly I wanted to see how different your raising size would be from what I thought would be good initially.
