ATM there is a nice black background on the homepage. Mine is black due to my adblocker. The black is actually really nice, much less harsh than the white.
Consider it going forward, please!

Yes, please add the dark background as a configurable alternative.
I've selected dark b/g options wherever possible (incl. the 2+2 forums) to ease my issues with falling asleep (avoid reading on an overly bright screen at night). This forum's white b/g may discourage me from reading it at night. Maybe I'll create a special dark theme for it in Stylish (a Chrome extension), but that will be hard.

If you do decide to keep it (even as a personal option for users) you should also spread it throughout the website and not just the home page.

Hey, the person responsible for this topic is away at the moment. There is no decision yet whether the background will be changed or not - time will tell

Here is the update on the Black background:
There is no decision on it yet as it will require further changes to several parts of the website with regards to layout, so at this point we're not yet sure if/when it will happen, but because of your feedback we'll be looked into next year.
