I guess I would have played the hand the same way.
Agaist that villain I guess his range for calling the BTN preflop could include:
22-TT, AJ+, KQ, and sometimes SC or Axs. And sometimes JJ+ if he is tricky/slowroller or if he knows you have very high Foldvs3B%. Otherwise JJ+ he would most likely 3B.
When he floats that flop his range his range could be:
Any ace, pocket pair, a couple of SC that connect or could connect with the board and sometimes a set. Although he would most likely raise your Flop CB with a set or an overpair.
His call on the turn makes me think his range would now be:
Any ace, flopped straight or straight draw. On the turn if he had an overpair or a set I guess he would definetly raise it.
On the river I would indeed c/f as well according to this line of thought since there's nothing you can beat his river bet.
That's just my opinion, I guess it went as it should.
