The other day I was surfing the internet and I found a lot of poker training sites. I saw everything that thay have to offer and I found a constant: they all try to scam us. Maybe that's a strong statment,but it is also true.
They scam us through their memberships. Pay to have parcial or full acces to their content is something common at these sites. And don't misunderstand me, I am agree with it.
I understand it's their job, and they have to get paid for it; I know maintaining a website costs money; I know the coaches spend hours and hours creating content so we can learn how to crush this game and because of that they deserve a compensation.
But I disagree with the stupid prices. Honestly, paying $70-$100 PER MONTH for a full access membership it's a scam. They could set the full membership to $9-$15, that way they would have a lot more clients and a bigger income. Maybe in the USA or another developed country using $100/m for your hobby is not stupid, but it is in countries like mine. We pay all of our bills (light, internet, water, etc) for less than the half of that money. Those poker sites' memberships are basically a legalized scam...ο»Ώ
The issue is that as long as some people keep paying that money for it, they are not going to change the prices.
If you sell the full acces memership for 100 bucks, how many people is going to pay for it? 3 out of 100, maybe 4. Now sell it for let's say $9 or $10, I bet that 80 out of 100 people will pay you off with a smile in the face.
Poker Strategy is the best one dealing with this because they implemented the strategypoints which allows you get a better status only by playing poker.
I know this isn't going to change; what's funny though is that we are the users, and it's up to us if they freeze their prices or not.
Anyway, I just wanted to share with you that everything, even something so pure as learning something new, has become a bussines. "For the money the monkey dances" is a common phrase in my country, and it is true, sadly...
