I played 2/5 limit live at a local casino for five straight days totalling about 26 hours before bronchitis suspended further play.
During that time I found that the nearly universal tendency of live players, be they regulars or fish, is to check around on the river and go to showdown. On occasion, however, someone bets, raises or even reraises on the river. I even won one hand when I bluff raised on the river with nothing and villain folded! But in nearly all cases villain will call a bet, raise or reraise even if they're sure they're beaten. On more than a few occasions I've seen a player say "nice hand" to his opponent _before_ paying the bet, raise or reraise and then mucking his hand.
I am just wondering how people feel about seeing showdown in limit poker. Do you always pay a minbet (or minraise, or min reraise) in order to see villain's cards?
And, of course, if live play and online play differ significantly in this regard, please let me know.
