[Closed] Any tips for combating cramp in your clicking hand?

I've not really played on the virtual felt much for the last two years and on my return I'm finding I quite often get cramp in my mouse hand.

Anyone else get this, and do you know a way to combat it?

Hey LonePiranha,

You should make sure that you take frequent breaks. At least 5 minutes for every hour on the computer. You should make sure that you flex your muscles in breaks so that they are still active.

Hope that helps

Thank you, I'm just gearing up for my nightly swim round the tables so I'll try that. :)

Yeah I am awful at starting to play and not having a drink hand, then just thinking oh well and carry on playing. Didn't realise this could help cramp, but thank you. I'll try to remember from now on.

I'm not that talented to be ambidextrous. I've tried but usually by the time I've directed my mouse to the table where the action is, my hand is mucked and I am timed out.

Okay slight exaggeration, but it's less than comfortable.

this is actually quite important issue, i would like to hear from other grinders what they have to say.

i played 130k hands this month and i must say that i noticed some problems last few days.

i for example, like to hold my hand up and shake it for 30 seconds in all directions, regularly, f.e. every 30-45 mins.

also, i bought Razer Copperhead mouse, and pain in the clicking hand is minimised. its really important to pay attention to ergonomy because you can reduce long term health problems.

I'd reccomend to buy yourself ergonomic mouse and mousepad with wrist support (it is very important). If this problem continues, you should contact your doctor. Also an ergonomic chair may help to get right sitting position (it also has effect on your hand position).
Do you feel sometimes numbness or tickling in your hand also ?

Ofcourse breaks and excersises are good.

i myself felt couple of times numbness, like my hand is falling asleep...
wrist support for mouse pad is something i yet need to buy, deffinitely.

most concerning for me is the pain i feel in some places (in the base of thumb), long time after the sessions end. it lasts for few days usually.

bottom line - position is everything

I have a mouse pad that has like a gel support for the wrist so my wrist doesn't touch the table. I feel this helps for clicking cramps :)

Looks like this

Otherwise you could try playing less starting hands ;)

BINGO!!! I can't believe I had to wait two hours for this thread to get to the real issue.

I ordered a mouse pad. The actual mouse I am reluctant to buy as I already have two mice setup on my PC (not cheap ones either) one for normal use and one as a back up should the batteries need charging in the middle of a session. ;)

Thanks for all the tips also. Most helpful.

i put something below my reast - thats straighten the hand = no pressure on it...
+ change the mouse options to the max speed = less mouse mowenment = +ev

I can really recommend setting mouse sensetivity as high as you can manage if you haven't already. Helped a lot for me at least.
