Regarding Blind defence.

I have found that I dont really have 'calling range' SB/BB vs BUT - I typically 3bet or fold. I know that this is mainly because I am not comfortable playing OOP without initative. The only hands I tend to call on either blind are small-mid pairs. I realise my 'range' then is super exploitable -
What hands would you incorporate into your SB&BB 'calling range?'

Thus far I have had a fair amount of success 3bet or folding as typically people fold too much to 3bet at my limits so I have only recently started rethinking my blind defence.

Thanks for any feedback and thanks for your hard work on the Wednesday night coaching, always inspiring stuff.

haha :rage: internet.

Not having a calling range bb vs bu seems like the biggest possible leak you could have. We should be defending over 50% and if we are 3betting 50% hes going to exploit us so hard. We can have some weak hands like 98o, sure but were protected by having hands like KQ, KJ, JTs which play really really well.

Thanks pleno.

So you mention 50%+ why that amount?

As the 'stealer' I am aware that, in a vacuum, my min open on the button only need to work 57%+ to print me $. Facing a min open while defending the BB then I am recieving 3.5:1 on a call and need to win only 22% of the time (again, in a vacuum.) I cant imagine defending 78% is mathematically correct as we are OOP and likely to face aggression on later streets often in very bad shape if that were the case.
I guess my question is...
Do you adjust your defence range dependant on opponents range or their betsize or indeed both?
Are you recomending 50% as a default range that is not too immediately exploitable and adjust from there considering opponents history/stats etc?

Thanks for all your advise and sorry for clogging the thread with abc stuff.

MD

i suggest 71% for good players at a stake where rake isnt an important amount. i cant say how well you will be able to play these hands as i dont know you, but i would suggest that everybody should be defending over 50% at least as a base.

ofc both betsize and range, if i have a worse price then i cant profitably defend the bottom of my range, if they have a tighter range then i will have reverse implied odds with say k5.

No, I couldn't. Just a wee beginner like

but i would suggest that everybody should be defending over 50% at least as a base.

I will work towards a comfort level defending 50% and then bother you with more Q's ;)

Grand, I thought as much.

You mentioned that you have a Mac in one of your last videos.
Why do you always play on a Windows? Did you use BootCamp to install Windows on your Mac and if you did so, why don't you use the Mac version of Pokerstars + PT4?

Hey, I wonder what is your approach to guys that are folding to 3bets like 66+%.
When you are on buton and such player opens on cut off with 26% range (4% 4b range, fold to 5b too small sample).
Would you just 3b AK/QQ+ and another 2.5% of bluffs or rather you would make your bluff range higher and higher until you see his fold to 3b against you isnt that high any more?

Thanks

Pleno I was wanting to know if you could help me out with your preflop opening hand ranges? EX: UTG,MP etc. Or maybe point me in the right direction to where I could find a list that you have already made. And I use HM2 I was wondering what hud stats do you think I should use, love to copy your hud in the videos, but I dont have PT4(I was crazy for not getting it when it was on sale) But, if you dont want to share these publicly I understand, thanks 99PROBLEMSS. Oh, I didnt mean to change the subject. Sorry! p.s. love your website WugWug!!! KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK !!!

Haha, worldwide telecommunication companies are pricks.
Last year we had a neighbours internet go down, so they come along and 'fix' their internet and for no god dam reason whatsoever, cut the cable to our internet and phone line. And then ofcourse, you ring them up and say 'wtf'. ANd they go, 'yeah we'll send someone out in 2 weeks to look at it.' 3 weeks later they come and spend 30 seconds fixing it...

I have got the same layout as you, but with one difference: my cards aren't like next to each other like yours. One of mine is above the other card.
How did you set your cards up like that?

Hey Buddy

Yeah I am a huge advocate of simple HUDs and good popups, especially is playing on a not so big monitor.

Hey Buddy,

The article where all the ranges are in is a Platinum article.

Pick one position and post a screenshot in equilab of your range and I will help tell you what I think you are doing wrong.
