I guess I should have continued action on the flop and cap, right?

I think you played it well. The button has only raised pre-flop with 9% of his hands (88+, ATs+, KTs+, QJs, AJo+, KQo) over a fairly decent sample, so you know he's not raising ATC.

I wouldn't cap the flop, the BU has now polarized his range, and I think you're looking at KK+, AKo+ as I think any other capp-able hands (JJ,QQ) wouldn't have 3bet on that flop - or is that a leak?

actually you should cap the flop since it's quite likely that UTG keeps staying in the pot even for 2SB more and you have a flushdraw and if he's got most likely AK or AA 3 queens help you as well. so you have 11-12 outs and around 45% which is 12% over the required average of 33,3%. the problem occurs on the turn since if you don't improve and make the flush you might getting raised again by Button.

To avoid that you should cap the flop and check the turn unimproved and check/calldown or if you know that bu will never play a worse hand like this you can fold the river to another bet. i mean ... he capped pre and then 3bet the flop. that must be AK or better. cap flop check turn is not well balanced but people on the low limits won't recognize that as they do just their cards and the board and don't consider their opponents ranges too much.
