then what are you looking for ? theres no real alternative than betting turn and why would you bet flop for a free turn card when SB checks flop he has either a slowplay or as you said AQ ish hand. so with your open ender your really betting more as a semi bluff / value ish.

At any rate, wrong forum.

Mods, please move to "discussions forum".

Yeah, you have a point. Not all together convinced yet, but it is part of my question:

Is the "raise for free card" of any use at all (3-ways)"

You say blatantly "no". I'm still not sure, but I think you may be right. Two-ways you are right, four-ways you are probably wrong. Three-ways?

sb looks to be pot controlling/inducing on the flop. i like taking a free card. if you have to call a bet on the turn its not that bad, you're (probably) drawing at 8-14 outs.

as played i believe you should represent the scare card on the turn, you can always give up on the river if you feel it's necessary.

if you think you can get folds from over cards go ahead and fire a 3rd barrel. however, in my opinion we aren't getting an ace to fold very often and definitely not a pair.

for the record i'm folding pre. but i am a limit holdem nit.

Ava's right. Fold T9 pre, then your'e so tight you can't take a decent dump without screaming.

Mod's plz. Move thread to discussion forum. It doesn't belong here.

seriously that bad? i have to say i'm a bit shocked that you both think that's so horribly tight... i mean, i knew it was a tight fold but the very strong way both of you have expressed your disaproval has slightly surprised me.

for the record, i'm playing lhe mostly in 8game sng against very very loose villains and i've developed a strategy of playing tight pre in the flop games while the table is still full. i'm trying not to get short before the stud games which are softer and the crucial second 2-7 round.

looks like that might have turned into a bad habit. i appreciate the criticism.

can i ask you what is the bottom of your button opening range?

It is a matter of taste. I, myself, play plenty of hands when in position. Out of position, Ava would call me a nit too. But, really, T9o is a no-brainer. I'd open T8o too as a default, but I might need to think about the game-state first. Same reasoning applies to T7 and T6, but now the default is folding. A more clear-cut case: J9 is a definite open, J6 is a definite fold.

Button range you say:

22+, A2s+, K2s+, Q2s+, J5s+, T6s+, 96s+, 86s+, 75s+, 65s, 54s, A2o+, K5o+, Q7o+, J7o+, T7o+, 97o+, 87o

(53.24%)

And tbh that's probably a tad tight at higher stakes but in high rake games this feels fine

T9o is a top 30% hand (just use Equilab and drag the slider until you hit T9o), folding it on the button is criminal

I think this is pretty much the opening range in "higher stakes" too.

CRIMINAL !!!!!! nice wording, but its true :P

my button OR is
22, Ax, K4s, K6o, Q5s, Q7o, J7s, J9o, T7s, T7o, 97s, 98o, 86s, 87o, 76s, 76o, 65s, 54s

something along those lines. if its tightish or tight blinds then i probably raise like i would in a HUSNG. about 90% of all my hands.

The quality of the opposition is important. Playing T7 versus good opponents in a high rake environment is probably not profitable, but the same hand is easily profitable versus bad opponents in a low rake environment.

All these things are marginal. The nice thing is that, if you play looser, then it is so much more difficult to play against you. This means your monsters will pay off better and you might be able to bluff more successfully - but this is provided the postflop play is good. Playing too loose with marginal hands is a loser if you don't play well postflop. This makes it hard to give exact preflop ranges.
