River 3bet overplayed?

1) I would have to equilate it but ffrom my "feeling" this looks ok. Calldown is very close but the cards are to unscary. Which wait maybe we should fold exactly because of this? (River of course not earlier.)

2) I'll remind that. I call the river. Hard to say without reads because I wouldn't bet against good players anymore. Against a passive fish the play is fine.

3) Well at first it looks like that you can 3-bet for value but which hand should be play this way except a flush or a bluff? I only call it.

Nice to have you posting some hands here. Please notice that I myself only play 3/6$ / 5/10$ SH (I'm too lazy too play.... played only 5k hand in february) so I can't guarantee you anything. ;)

1) Depends on the player, some can't find the call button and 3-bet anything, I play at .5/1$ SH and I can imagine aggressiveness only goes up from there. The raise on the flop is standard, you can't fold here, and the pot is too big to NOT calldown assuming non-overcards. You seem beaten though as this is how a normal player would play an overpair or an aggressive player would play suited overcards (clubs).

2) The problem with the Bet/X line here is he only needs to be bluffing 1/7 times to make your (crying) call EV+, check/call imo, the worse hand will fold to the bet, and if ur willing to pay 1 BB to see a showdown anyway you might as well not risk the possibility of 2.

So basically theres nothing to gain from the bet (how much more value do you need from TPTK on a 2 suited river?), no non-spade hand will call.

At least at my limit people bluff the river with 4 suited cards out there if I check to them after showing strength.

3)Again depends on player but just look at the possible draws from the 9c he could easily have JTx 57x any 2 clubs pocket 9s maybe even a badly played set, simply too many draws got there to risk the cap from ur 3 bet. Against a 90 VPIP 14 af crazy bastard, 3 bet. Everyone else, bet/call river.

thx to both of u...

and no problem cirith... i really like your evaluations! dont even think about NOT posting, cause youre helping a lot of peeps around here... i am sure!

i think 1) and 2) are pretty standard, hand 2 might be a check behind but i think there areno big mistakes... interesting is hand 3... so i just changed the hand history twice to see if theres a difference...

the 9 of is completing EVERY DRAW... so lets check how those to hands shall be played. 1) no straight, just BD flush, 2) no flush but completing gutshot...

Q9 and 99 cant be the only 2 hands that change the river, so thos BD draws are more likely to cause this action...

Hmm I wouldn't change my play here. (I'm not sure if you ask for that or if you already answered it. :))

There are still no hands he might raise which he would call to a 3-bet where you are still ahead.

3b) The only hand with a 2 in is A2s which he will fold to a 3-bet for sure.

3c) JT could now have a straight.

I think you ask because it changes something but I don't see it. :/

1) Everytime I'm in this situation, villain got an overpair > mine. I think vs a thinkin' villain, a fold is ok on river cause he'll often put you on a pocket pair and will not try to make you fold with a bet river. I think he is valuebetting here with something like TT+, or more likely with AK/AQ:c.. Depend on stats/read imo..

There's an other line that would be ok, is a c/r turn : you'll probably make AK/AQ folding and TT+ will 3-bet you. A fold would be ok here, you'll too often be beaten. If he calls, you'll maybe have a free showdown if you check, or you can valuebet him depending on the rivercard.. What 'bout that Cirith?

2) I would check behind cause which worst hand would call you? I think any one hand would call and few no call too.. Stats are needed here too I think

3) I would bet/call here, the board is drawy and a set is possible.. I dont think a better queen would play this way. Maybe an agressive player would but vs unknown I b/c..

edit/ in 'better queen' I mean queen with better kicker but no two pair

+1. Hard to see worst hand playing this way ^^. I think our hand is not good enough to bet/3-bet. Even more if villain isnt so agressive.. Really depend on stats / read..

1) I don't like a turn check/raise because he might not even fold to overcards because of the potsize. Additionally I don't want to fold a flushdraw.

Nice to hear more opinions here. :)
