A8 trips vs raise

Any thoughts?

I wouldn't call this pre as standard but since villain looks fishy I think it is ok.
Turn line is a bit weird. I know villain minbets and it is ok to raise here but I'm not sure if we should be raising if we are going to fold to re-raise?
You still have 10 outs so I think calling would be ok.

I think that we could just call turn and then call river depending on the sizing.(if we hit 8/A obv get it in.)

I like it as played. There's no problem with raising with the intention of folding to a reraise. It is even likely to save money provided of course we are really beat. In my experience, these weird bets have a purpose to someone making them that makes sense to him. The purpose is then to either build the pot a little so that a very big river bet gets paid, or to provoke raises. The advantage with raising (moderately) is that when villain's purpose is not of the type given (but rather to get to SD cheaply), then he gets to pay a normal fee.

From the balanced perspective (that doesn't apply here), we have lots of better trash to call with.

I agree with marsa08. Calling turn would be the best option. He could still have weaker aces but much more better hands. Forld on turn is also nice as played.

This can't be right. He'll have everything from a pair of sixes to one-card flush draws to weaker aces that may call a raise.

Would you not have bet (for value vs fish) if he had checked? He DID check, in his own way.

A fish couldn't have one-card flush draws there if he called a flop raise. Are you gonna extract value from a pair of sixes on turn? He might be a fish but not an idiot to call there

A scary card appears turn, a call would control the pot and end the action. Ready to call a modest size bet river.
