Poker Stars, $0.08/$0.16 No Limit Hold'em Cash, 5 Players

CO: $16 (100 bb)
BTN: $50.33 (314.6 bb)
SB: $16 (100 bb)
BB: $16 (100 bb) 21/16/1.7/10.7/27/214
Hero (MP): $18.91 (118.2 bb) 18/13/2.4/3.1/42/94

Preflop: Hero is MP with A K
Hero raises to $0.64, CO folds, BTN calls $0.64, SB folds, BB calls $0.48

Flop: ($2) 3 2 2 (3 players)
BB checks, Hero bets $0.96, BTN folds, BB calls $0.96

Turn: ($3.92) K (2 players)
BB checks, Hero checks

River: ($3.92) 4 (2 players)
BB checks, Hero bets $2.08, BB calls $2.08

I check the turn because if he has a 2 and is slowplaying me then I don't lose much and keep the pot small. If he doesn't have a 2 he might fold on the turn but might bluff on the river to my check. So the plan is if he bets river I call and if checks river then I bet and he might call with a middle pair since I stopped after the K showed up.I use this kind of lime many times in these kind of top pair hand situations. Am I missing out on value when I play like this or do you think this is fine?

Hello maheepsangari,

I like your play here and I would have played the same way. Nice hand! If we have any kind of reads that he is capable of hero-calling then just go for 3streets value. We don't even have to bet very big on turn.

Best Regards.

Was talking about turn if we decide to go for a value-bet.
