i would 1/2 pot cbet here if he doesnt c/r often and fold to any resistance. he is likely to call you with any diamond, J or K so too many hands beat u already and many have a lot of potential here.

According to the rules, you should have gone all-in yes

If you think about it, everything that calls here will be flipping or slight ahead of you.

What about check behind to see what he does on the Turn? People are soooooo honest on such a board which makes life easier since if he double checks, you can easily bet like $0.6/$0.7 and take it down.
