If you assume that villain will defend wider (which is true) why not change to a more depolarized range so you can just value town him?

As played I can't see how we can flop a flush in a 3-bet fold and get away from it 125 BB deep.

So yes, to me this is an easy stackoff despite him having the chance of having better flushes. He can have pair+draw, just draw or set/2p

Thanks Bogdan for the reply. To be honest, I am still confused about the defence vs steals in the blinds when deep. To be completely honest, I don't really know how to play deep... Some coaches like Patrick advocate for the polarized range when in blinds and deep, but I don't really remember what are his arguments for that. It can also be connected with the average player type in the stakes that he is playing. Perhaps in the lower stakes it is better to 3b a depolarized (as you are suggesting) and in the higher stakes polarized (Patrick's idea) ?

I guess my argument for 3betting a polarized range is that I would be afraid of the frequent 4bet bluffs if I would 3bet depolarized range, such as 88+, AJ+, KTs+, QJs, JTs. I would just defend most of the hands by calling and then playing them postflop.

If I did 3bet a depolarized range, as you are suggesting, I expect that opponent is going to 4b bluff me frequently. How would you combat his 4bets then ? Would you create a 5bet bluff range or would you call the stronger hands from your 3bet range, so that you would dominate his 4bet bluffs ? Would this change depending on the sizing of the 4b ? For example, if opponent gives you good odds, you would call, and otherwise 5bet bluff?

Perhaps you have another type of range in mind and another type of logic, I would be interested to know.

The point of using a depolarized range is to
1. Go for thin value vs his weaker hands
2. Allow you to defend more against 4bets

You can 5b jam wider, or call wider, depending on villain's gameplan.

If his 4b size is huge and he is bluffing a lot, you can jam lighter. If his 4b size is small, you can flat plenty of 4bets.

BU raises to 2bb
you 3b to 8bb
BU 4bets to 18bb

typical scenario here, you can consider flatting AJ/KQ/T9s if he's 4betting wide enough
