Pre-flop you are facing a 6,5x open. That makes your calling range a lot tighter. We can can only see your hand in a spoiler this time. Without looking it's tough to give feedback on your play.

I wanted to be the focus on Villain this hand not on me and my hand that's why I hide it in spoiler. Normally I would agree that playing tighter vs big opener is the best play. It wouldn't put me in difficult spot. However I have seen him make some weak plays and placing him large bets with all kinds of nonsense. I decided to make the call for I have decent outplay potential postflop.

OTF we hit mid pair with some backdoor draws.

Now the range of hands I put him on looks something like this: QQ,TT-88,66,55,ATs+,KQs,AJo+
After he donk bets big I'm not going anywhere. I like my odds.

On the turn I pick up a flush draw with my pair. He leads again.

The river brings another diamond and he shoves. I did find it confusing. Even though there are better flushes and possible full houses that have us beat, the way the hand was played I felt very strong. I see many players like him overplay weaker hands we have beat and just maybe he was triple barrel bluffing. I was trying an exploitative play and even though it blew up I still like my play and I actually was ahead on 2 streets.

With this information i would 3bet pre and isolate myself against the sucker

though it blew up

No you dont. Your postflop play is correct on every street. Just a nasty cooler nothing more.

I would say its kinda spew preflop, huge open from him, i would fold your hand, if you want to play these hands then just 3b/fold them of youre not comfortable to 3b then probably its a clear fold. As played post flop its ok, just check call down and get coolered in the end, villain played as he should he had a lot of equity and even more fold equity vs your range so its a simple bet bet bet line for him

Preflop if hero calling than he needs to have some suited cards for semiblufing, other way fold preflop or 3b with better hand.
Flop if he call he neds to have KTs, KJs with 2pairs he could rerise, KQs, AKs he doesnot have he could 3B preflop.
Turn if he had KdTd rerise, otherway fold rest.
River without K, or Adxd fold.

Hello,

Before a 3.5x opening I would call with SC, Broadways suited, spp and AT-AQ
On that flop with our full range of draws and strong hands I would just call.
Arrived at the river I only pay with Flush, full house and KQ.
AQ would already fold on the turn.
It is still difficult to consider a line of play without data.

Thanks all, it seems very hard to play this hand profitable in this scenario.

Flush over flush happens rarely but still happens... You have to live with it.

Indeed, but in this case J9s would be a fold against a 6,5x open. Not sure this is villains standard open size, but that could make some difference, but is always tough to play a big pot with a suited 1 capper.

Totally agree with you. I was talking about the hand as played...
