Please....... PLEASE!!!! It is not so much about this exact hand.
There are two types of players I have not been able yet to develop a good strategy against.
(There is a third type of player I'm having troubles with but that is not relevant here :f_biggrin:).
- Type A: Sits down at table with 40bb (min buy in) and immediately is aggressive but in a 'smart' way, so in position floats one or two and then bets big(ish)). They will also leave quickly when they start loosing.
- Type B: Different type. Has a VPIP of ~70 and a PFR of ~0 but is definitely NOT a fish. What this type is doing is disguising its hands.
This post is about Type A (I will make differt post about type B).
Now I recognized the button as a type A player from the way he played his previous hands.
Below my hand an my thoughts. What are your thoughts in this?
PokerStars - $0.02 NL (6 max) - Holdem - 6 players
Hand converted by PokerTracker 4
SB: 164 BB (VPIP: 10.71, PFR: 10.71, 3Bet Preflop: 4.76, Hands: 57)
BB: 174 BB (VPIP: 33.73, PFR: 27.71, 3Bet Preflop: 8.00, Hands: 86)
UTG: 100 BB (VPIP: 19.23, PFR: 19.23, 3Bet Preflop: 11.11, Hands: 27)
Hero (MP): 135.5 BB
CO: 100 BB
BTN: 57 BB (VPIP: 57.14, PFR: 14.29, 3Bet Preflop: 0.00, Hands: 8)
SB posts SB 0.5 BB, BB posts BB 1 BB, CO posts penalty blind 1 BB
Pre Flop: (pot: 2.5 BB) Hero has T♥ 9♥
fold, Hero raises to 4.5 BB, fold, BTN calls 4.5 BB, fold, fold
Now I am never ever folding my T9s here with the unknow CO.
Because of the short stack though, do you guys fold here because of him?
Flop: (11.5 BB, 2 players) A♦ 3♠ T♠
Hero bets 7 BB, BTN calls 7 BB
I wanted to jam.. I wanted to jam soooo badly but I did not.
I think it's not good to jam because he'll never ever fold when he's ahead I beleave (and he's 30% ahead).
Turn: (25.5 BB, 2 players) J♦
Hero checks, BTN bets 7 BB, Hero calls 7 BB
It's a piss bet. I wanted to check raise all in soooo badly but I did not because I am a coward.
Also did not want to fold for that price.
Question: anybody out there that would have jammed here or folded here?
River: (39.5 BB, 2 players) Q♣
Hero checks, BTN bets 18 BB, fold
Well.. nothing to do here anymore.. should have jammed the turn probably.
BTN wins 38 BB
Now the play pattern of these qirls/guys is screaming bluff. I think two things are possible against players like this:
a) Tighten up (fold almost all OOP)
b) Loosen up (so jam turns)
How would you girls/guys adapt out there?
Any thought would be highly appreciated!
In hindsight, after reading my post: Jam the turn.
