PLO 100 3399ss

If he had a set of aces I don't understand his flop donk. It looks like a bet that screams "Where am I in the hand?" when he donks the flop. It could well be a set of 8's however and this is what most worries me.

So his flop range to me is hands like AK/A8/88 but I don't see AA donking as he must know you will cbet here.

Now on the turn your bet looks weak. I certainly wouldn't put you on AA by betting the turn so small with those draws showing (unless of coure you had a nut flush draw in hearts, in which case it makes perfect sense). Your turn bet might have made him realise his hand is good (If he does have 88) but he might also think A8 is good here and if he suspects it isn't maybe would shove anyway if he has picked up hearts as well.

I think this is one of those spots where usually a puke fold is correct because you can't possibly imagine that villain is spazzing out, but I rarely make the fold and end up calling to be shown middle set.

could an argument be made for folding pre? i know its doublepaired and we flop a set 25% of the time but still our set of 3s like in this case is troublesome and the same goes for a set of 9s. I know we have position and steal equity etc. but i play such hands all the time only to flop bottom or middle set and be shown a higher one...i ve probably lost a ton of money due to getting set over set and i dont think u can easily minimize ur losses postflop or get away from it easily even with position so its a leak for most people imo

I don't think fold pre is an option, I personally have great result as 3better with two pair hands.
