I think hes range is the one you are explaining when he bet-calls the flop. That is the reason I'd prefer check-raising smaller like 3/4 of the pot. It narrows hes range similar to potting, but makes turn check-fold on diamonds better. For example we still get him to fold plenty of overpairs or AK's with A/K flush blockers with both sizing. There is also some fold equity left on non-diamond turns on hands he should call. With half pot left behind that is not the case. K is not the best turn out there but it has to go in.

Anyway, I like the idea of check-raising this oop. In position I would call the flop and apply pressure on turn instead.

If you are not happy to get it in with top2, you are going to make a lot of folds on the flop with that hand. Most likely the worst case scenario is an overpair+fd or straight draw+fd and you are flipping.

Folding was never option but point was that there is fair amount of turns that make spot pretty awkward in case villain call. Like on diamond or 3 we can pretty much give up but on case of e.g. 6, 9, T, J it's tougher. But being oop it's still best to just x-r or keep pot smaller in case it goes checked. Like for donk betting we would prefer to have more support I think so more turns are good for us.

Also that less than pot size for reasons mentioned above could make sense. My line is often to just pot if I don't really have any raise-fold range. Then again villain actually still folded turn with SPR 0.5 in this one.

Raising turn requires you to dodge just turn. Calling requires you often to dodge turn and river.
