Pot odds question

Yeah. Other way to think it is that you will win 1 out of 4 times, so to break even you need to win your investment 4 times back. So to invest $5 you need to win $20 when you hit. So if the pot is $20 or more after your investment, it's good.

But yes you are correct. If you have 3 to 1 odds (25%) and the pot (after villain bets) is 3x the amount you need to call, you will be break even.
Your calculations below are correct. 5 into 10 would be the break even point.

What I do at the tables is I use rule of 2+1, so I multiply my outs by 2 and add 1. That gives me my hit chances on next street quite accurately. For example with 12 outs you have (12*2)+1 = 25% equity.
Then I have memorized how much equity I need to make a break even call when villain bets: pot (33%), 3/4pot (30%), half pot (25%) and 1/3pot (20%).

Then I can use those to quickly estimate how I'm doing.

To confuse you guys a little, at some countries they say 1:4 instead of 1:3
