A question about value bet!part1

The STD MSS is very simple and makes clear rules which is easy to follow. The STD MSS is we go broke on the flop with an over pair.

We have discussed this question many times on this forum but my short response is :

Take you database and apply the following filter:
1) allin on the flop
2) if your database contains more than just your mss hands then also filter effective stacks 40BB

Now do the "hand strength on the flop" tab and look at the allin %.

You will see that the 50%+ line is somewhere between TPGK + good draw and Overpair.

That is why the basic strategy is to go broke there.

The Post-flop Chart covers the situation presented as well. You have an over-pair which is a strong made hand, without solid reads to the contrary, get it in. Most of the time you'll be way ahead.

The opponent in this hand could have a TON of different hands, most of them you are ahead of. I've been check-raised (and called) with as weak a hand as A high. Play at the low stakes is erratic enough that you really could be facing a strong draw, a weak draw hoping to make you fold, TPTK, or anything else that an opponent decided he wanted to check raise with.

Don't worry too much about those things if you're still focusing on the Chart. It will win you money in the long run.
