i have a question about this qoute about set mining in the article "Short Handed Theory

Your opponents can't wait for a good hand any longer than you can. This makes "set mining", which is a part of many tight players' full-ring game, a meaningless effort.

Limp/calling with small pocket pairs won't be profitable in the long run,

I mentioned this during the Beginners course coaching this evening and you asked why it would not be profitable.

The answer would be this

since you need to hit a set to start any action after the flop

But this kind of counts at FR tables as well, right?
So your question stands and i really like to have some advice about how to adjust our play with PP when changing from FR to SH ?(.

In SH I wouldn't recommend limping. There are too less people on the table and they would recognize much easier. Try to get used to raise with all your PPs and maybe even kick out the lower ones. Don't limp them! Especially in SH, even on low limits.

thx for your clear answer. when i'm playing SH i don't limp in with pp's actually :).

my stats are:
VPIP=18%
Call Open= 7% (most times from BB)
Limp= 2% (most times from SB)
PFR =15%
Raise 1st=19%
3-bet= 8%

the samplesize is a bit small ~5100 hands, but what do you think about these stats?

I hope there will be SH coaching soon. I like SH better than FR but there are no special NL SH coachings and very little articles about it :f_cry:.

From what I see, I would most likely loosen up a bit of my range, kind of tight is the style you play. How many tables you playing?

What are the hand types you limp from SB? Do you complete first it or?

Otherwise seems to be fine so far for the given sample size.

Unfortunately I am not sure when we going to have more of those SH coachings, what I know is that grummeler already has some of them and time to time we have in our beginners course as well.

when i switched from FR to SH i first palyed 2 tables a time, now i'm playing 4 tables.

i don't complete first, there's always at least 1 limper before me.

i made a query from HM about the SB hands:
sample size is 6114 hands
limp 2% EP 0% MP1% Co 3% BTN 3% SB 7% BB 0%

about the AK hand i remember thinking, oeps, i wanted to raise! Bit too occupied by the play at another table and almost got timed out ♦.

Grummeler played SH during coaching today so that was great.

Those broadway type of hands you can even consider raising depending on the opponent and their stacks. But of course picking the passive approach is totally fine as well.
