just wondering how much variance affects experienced omaha players? i know it is worse that nl hold em but i seem to keep hitting a pattern where i will win 4/5 buy ins and then another session i will start by losing 4/5 buy ins, it seems like i miss every huge draw and people hit theirs against me. is this a normal type of swing? talking about micros btw. ty

It is a human condition to see patterns where none exist. Don't worry about it, you will get over it eventually. 
If you look at the variance with simulator, you will see that those 10bin swings are normal in plo. The higher your winrate is, the smaller the swings tend to be. And vice versa.
Here is 10 simulated winnings graphs. Let's say the player is beginning omaha player in micros, and his winrate is 8bb/100. Standard deviation is 160, which is what some tight player might have (mine is over 200, lol).
The dotted line is expected winnings. 50K hands, and some poor fellow is losing over 50bin. Remember that he is winning player with expected winrate of 8bb/100. So the variance can be pretty sick in short run. Althought if he plays 2 hours per evening, 3 times a week, with 4 tables, that 50K hand horror run lasts for 6 months.
