with 40bb i think your play is fine.
After the turn pairs the board, u beat his 2 pair type hands, and i dont see doing anything else with 40bb.

Can someone correct me if it is wrong to go broke with 40bbs on such turn? I am almost sure it is okay.

Just a question to OP: what would be your play if turn was a J, or a T which donesnt complete the FD?

The same. J or T wouldn´t have changed villains strength as long as he didnt have those pockets. In case villain had a set on the flop he probably would have re-raised. So I thought I was ahead with my 2-pair.
